"We went berserk, we went outside and everyone came out and we were yelling. So we go back inside to see the final comments and everyone on TV was saying ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute, USC gets the ball back?!?’ We were in total shock, with a blank face just sitting there saying ‘What just happened?’ Auto Racing came on immediately after the next commercial break, and all I could think was ‘What in the world?’"
- Darryl Tapp, recounting the game between USC and Notre Dame when Matt Leinart fumbled the ball out of bounds with seconds remaining. Being ranked #3 in the country behind USC and Texas, Tapp and his fellow Hokies' teammates would have had a legitimate shot at the National Title with a USC loss.

Darryl Tapp's daily routine involves getting up at 6am to bike through the mountains of Blacksburg wearing five-pound ankle weights for training. He then follows that up with a Pilates class before he even heads off for his first class.

"He's goes the same speed every day in workouts, practices and games. He works extremely hard. He's been that way ever since I've known him."
- Frank Beamer, VA Tech Head Coach
